What is CryoSkin?

CryoSkin is a non-invasive treatment for slimming, cellulite reduction and toning that uses the science behind cryolipolysis. Cryolipolysis is used to destroy fat cells directly under the skin’s surface (subcutaneous fat cells) by freezing them within the temperature range of +8 to -8 degrees celsius. The cold treatment causes apoptosis, or cell death, of subcutaneous fat tissues. The dead fat cells will drain through the lymphatic system and then be flushed out through the kidneys and urine.

How is this different to other no-surgery face lift or fat-freezing treatments?

Other fat-freezing treatments use suction in a localised area that can cause side effects. With CryoSkin, the ‘Peltier Effect’ is used to ensure the treatment works with the body’s natural systems and lymphatic drainage system to remove the dead fat cells. For no-surgery (or non-invasive) face lift treatments, cold is used to stimulate blood flow, oxygen and collagen production.

I’ve heard about CoolSculpting. What’s the difference?

CryoSkin is like CoolSculpting in that it destroys fat cells, but it can take two weeks or more to see results with CoolSculpting. Also, CoolSculpting does not offer toning (CryoTone) or facial rejuvenation (CryoFacelift) treatment options. The other differences include:

  • How it feels: CoolSculpting can be painful due to suction, whereas 88% of people enjoy CryoSkin like a massage

  • Side effects: CoolSculpting can result in ‘shelving’ (fat collecting in other areas)

  • Results: average CryoSkin fat loss of 38% versus CoolSculpting 20% in treated areas

  • Cost: CoolSculpting costs approximately $1,000 per application with about four applications needed before any results are seen

Does CryoSkin hurt?

The treatment is painless. In fact, some people describe it as relaxing.

What does the treatment feel like?

The best way to describe it is like a cold bottle of water moving over your skin. All you need to do is relax while I use the CryoSkin handheld wand in a massaging motion. Don’t worry, if you’re feeling too cold, I’ll move to a different area until you’re ready to resume treatment. With CryoSkin, there are no uncomfortable suction cups and no standing inside a tube. In fact, some people report that the treatment is a relaxing, spa-like experience.

Are there any side effects?

There may be some mild redness on the skin for an hour or two after your appointment. Also, since part of the way your body expels dead fat cells is via urine, you may urinate slightly more in the days following your treatment. If you’re having a CryoFacelift, I’ll remove your makeup first, otherwise slight irritation may result.

Has anyone had any serious side effects?

There are over 300 machines in use in France and 1,000 machines in use in the USA already with no reported serious side effects.

When will I see results?

Most people see results after their first treatment. The more sessions you have, the better your results will be. Your results from each session will peak around 2-3 weeks after your appointment, as this is when your body has finished expelling dead fat cells. Everyone’s body is different, so overall results will also depend on your diet, lifestyle, and the way your body responds.

Who would get the most from CryoSkin?

Anyone who is looking to lose fat, decrease cellulite or refresh with a non-invasive, non-surgical facial.

How long are CryoSkin sessions?

CryoSlim and CryoTone treatments usually last 30 minutes and CryoFacelift treatments last 20 minutes.

How often can I have a treatment?

CryoSlim treatments can be performed once every two weeks and CryoTone and CryoFacelift treatments can be performed every week.

Why can’t I have treatments more often?

When some fat cells die, waste forms in your body. This is eliminated via natural routes (your lymphatic system then urination), and you need to allow your metabolism time to remove this waste without overloading your body.

What if I want to treat more than one area at once?

It’s possible to treat multiple areas in one day. One slimming and one toning (or facial) session can be done, just not in the same area.

Do legs count as one area or two?

Your legs count as one area.

What should I bring?

There’s no need to bring anything!

Can I work out before/after my treatment?

It’s recommended that you don’t exercise in the hours leading up to your appointment as it takes longer to cool the treatment area.

Is there anything I need to do to get the best results from my CryoSlim treatment?

On the day of the treatment, especially two hours before and two hours after, it’s important to avoid eating sugar (including carbs). Sugar gives energy to the fat cells, which makes them more resistant to the treatment. After the treatment, it’s recommended you drink lots of water to drain the waste. It’s also recommended that you follow a healthy diet and exercise to maintain results.

Why is gel used during treatment?

We use gel on your skin during treatment to help the CryoSkin wand glide over your skin. The gel that has been specially designed to retain all its qualities of protection from -30° up to +60° celsius.

How long will the results last?

Results will depend on the treatment, the individual, your lifestyle and diet. Fat loss is permanent, but you may still gain fat back in the treated area if you don’t maintain a balanced lifestyle.

How can I get the best results from my treatments?

By implementing a healthy lifestyle and a good diet.
